Ode to my new plant
I only went into the store to look around. I don't even like Home Depot. The people there are less than helpful. I spent my time looking at green paint and hardwood floors. Yet the call of the garden center was too strong. I made it past the poppies, columbines, dill and lavender. Then I saw you sitting there, already planted in a decent looking planter. Your three different basil's looking so happy and yummy. My brownish/black thumb and the fact that we will be moving soon should have been enough of a reason not to get you. Then the husband caved and said to get it. So now you sit in my home, making it feel and smell happy.
I promise that I will try not to kill you. I really want you to live. I swear.
Please stay alive.
Love,
~Your brown...who is trying to get back to some shade of green...thumbed friend.
Hee. I also have a horrifically brown thumb. Our realtor gave us a plant as a house warming present, and my husband turns to me, hands it over and says, "You may kill it at your leisure." So sad, and yet. So true.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE basil! Yes, live little plant! Live! She needs you for some tasty meals in the future.
