My weekend update
Holy crazy weekend Batman. How is it that when you are starting to get your most busy, that things just pop up out of nowhere? Good things mind you, but still random things.I think I have battled this sinus infection to its death, now I just have to deal with red nose of doom...aka Rudolf (the Red Nosed Reindeer) nose. Mostly I'm just stoked to have my sense of smell and taste back. Real food with real flavor ROCKS!
Anywho, this weekend turned into craziness rather quickly...thus my disappearance. It all started on Friday with a "Smooth Move" briefing up on base. If you're Air Force (and maybe any other branch) you've probably been to one of these. Being there just confirmed that we are one of the least military families in the military. After being entertained by the poor guy who knew nothing about finance...yet was there...talking about finance, we wandered over to TMO to set up a moving schedule. Woo-freaking-hoo. I hate packing and moving. I hate even more that everyone at the briefing said that stuff will be damaged. Fabulous.
The control freak in me is dying inside.
Luckily we had a friend visit, which helped take my mind off the fact that movers will write down less (quantity) of an item so they can pilfer it.
Okay maybe the visit didn't fully get my mind off the move, but it was great to see our friend. It's been awhile, so sitting and catching up is always wonderful.
Yesterday we got a call from another friend who was driving through town. So we went and had dinner with him as well. Sushi to be exact...sushi that I could finally taste!
It's funny to me that we've been here for close to three years and all it took was us moving away in a few months to get the chance to have friends visit. Isn't that always how it works though? Everything happens when you are the most busy?
It was nice visiting and relaxing, but I know that this was the calm before the storm. How do I know? Our house is a disaster and it's not going to get any better till it's all packed up. Ugh. Hate that.
That...and I think I officially have to say that I have too many shoes. I know...I know...but damn are they going to suck to pack up. The movers are going to HATE me!
I hope everyone had a great weekend, full of fun and excitement. I promise to be back to blogging with a vengeance. I even have a craft project I want to share with you...because I just won't quit crafting till my supplies are boxed up and taken away!
Have a great Sunday!
I'm glad you're feeling better! I hope the move goes as smooth as possible :)
ReplyDeleteWe moved cross country with out losing a thing. The movers were great! All of our pick up and delivery guys were awesome. Maybe they were cool because we offered them beer? Who knows, they had sodas instead. And we tipped well, since it was a crappy location to move from. They had us stick on the numbered stickers on everything to be moved and recorded every number on every item on a list for them and us. When our stuff was delivered we both double checked our lists and when we couldn't find anything they helped us move everything around again until all numbers were accounted for. They were great! One thing we did do was mislabel the boxes (So if it held the XBox and games, it said books or something less likely to get stolen) and we also taped all the boxes in a particular pattern just in case.
ReplyDeleteI'm totally anal about making plans too, so I understand the freak out you can get when things are out of control but I hope this move goes super smoothly for you too!

I hope you don't lose anything! And I hope packing goes smoothly! It always starts out so innocently and easily. I like the beginning of packing, but I hate tying up the "last stuff" that just screams, "it looks like a mess around here." Best of luck!
ReplyDeleteThe Navy doesn't even do Smooth Move workshops anymore. They make you do everything online. I'd rather take the class, personally.
ReplyDeleteJust stopping by from SITS to say hello. Happy Tuesday!
Popped in from SITS to say hi!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for taking the time to write all of this out! It really means a lot and I will definitely keep looking back at this as we progress with all of our moving!
ReplyDeleteWe'll probably offer beer too! I'm glad to know that your move went well. I start hearing the horror stories and then all I want to hear is one good thing. So thank you for that! Thank you also for the tips, I do so love tips and thoughts. I gives me an idea of what works well.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you are feeling better. I was plagued by sinus infections until I got this pedi pot thing and it really works great.
ReplyDeleteI hate moving too and remember my military wife days..ugghh
I hope when you get a chance you will stop by for a visit.
